News Release Symantec Continues Personal Firewall Leadership With Earthlink Agreement Symantec Internet Security Solution Protects High-Speed, Always-On Connections of Leading Broadband ISP's Customers Nationwide CUPERTINO, Calif. - July 18, 2000 - Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced that EarthLink (Nasdaq: ELNK), a leading broadband Internet Service Provider (ISP) has selected Symantec's Norton Personal Firewall software to protect it's PC-using EarthLink DSL customers. EarthLink will offer Norton Personal Firewall free of charge to new and existing EarthLink DSL customers. Norton Personal Firewall will be delivered via a redeemable electronic coupon e-mailed to customers after their DSL service is installed. Norton Personal Firewall is then downloaded from co-branded Web site. Norton Personal Firewall, an integral part of Symantec's award-winning Norton Internet Security, is the maximum defense against hackers; it secures PCs, keeps information private, and alerts users to attempted intrusions. Over 50,000 customers strong, EarthLink DSL service is currently offered in more than 54 major metropolitan markets across the country through 2,650 local Central Offices (COs).
