News Release Symantec Security Expert Addresses USENIX Conference CUPERTINO, Calif. - Aug. 14, 2000 - Symantec Corporation, a world leader in Internet security technology, announced one of its chief architects, Char Sample, will lead a seminar on the topic, "Security from the Inside Out: Systems Engineering for Security Professionals" at the USENIX Technical Conference on August 14 in Denver, Colo. "IT administrators are continuously researching strategies to protect their networks from increasingly sophisticated hackers looking for vulnerabilities in their security systems," Sample commented. "This seminar will provide technology decision makers the necessary information for evaluating, planning, and implementing security designs resulting in increased protection and business enabling solutions." Now in its 25th year, USENIX brings together system administrators, engineers, scientists, and technicians for problem-solving, innovation, and research. The USENIX Annual Technical Conference is a gathering place for computer industry professionals and serves as a forum for discussion of the most advanced information on computer system development. Sample is a chief architect for Symantec Research Labs and has more than 15 years of experience in the industry. Sample's expertise includes firewall installation, deployment of e-commerce solutions, implementation of organizational training, and a history of conference presentations on the topic of Internet security. Sample holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Pittsburgh and a master's degree in systems management at Capitol College.
